Christmas across the Carolinas: Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC
The Grove Park Inn in Asheville is a delightful spot to visit any time of the year. But at Christmas, the resort turns into a beautifully decorated wonderland, from roaring fireplaces festooned with greenery to the annual Gingerbread House competition.
An annual event at the Grove Park Inn, the national Gingerbread House Competition took place on November 16th and all the entries and winners are on display until January 3rd, 2010. The community can tour the display Monday through Thursdays. Resort guests can view the display at any time.
This year, the Grove Park Inn is providing specialty tours if visitors would like to be guided through the displays. Guides will share stories about the artists and their houses, details about the construction of unusual entries, and a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the judging, competition and display itself. The specialty tours are available Monday through Saturday throughout the display period and admission is $10 for adults and $5 fo children, 12 and under.
For more information or to reserve a tour space, you will need to call 800-438-0050, ext. #4094.
